ICC T20 World Cup 2024
India clinched their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title, joining England (2010, 2022) and West Indies (2012, 2016) as the only teams to achieve this feat.
The final match saw an extraordinary comeback by India after South Africa appeared poised to win with just 30 runs needed from 30 balls.
After the final ball from Hardik Pandya, tributes flooded in from cricketing legends. Former India captain MS Dhoni, who led the team to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, congratulated Rohit Sharma’s side for their dramatic win.
Sachin Tendulkar acknowledged Rahul Dravid, India’s outgoing head coach, and also praised Vikram Rathour and Paras Mhambrey, the team’s batting and bowling coaches respectively, for their contributions to the success of the team.
Other cricketing greats also joined in celebrating India’s victory, with special mention given to Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh for their crucial roles in the final five overs of the match.
